How can the public library fulfil its classic social mission in our individualized and sometimes fragmented society? And how does such a library fit into the urban public space, in which commerce and consumption seem to reign supreme? This requires innovative architecture, the strength of imagination and the willingness to think countercyclically. In Imagination and Participation librarians Rob Bruijnzeels and Joyce Sternheim examine the most important transitions in public library work. They spoke with experts and Dutch top architects who have designed public libraries in the Netherlands and abroad. These conversations and the authors' own insights and experiences have resulted in a new perspective on contemporary library work that has been translated into starting points for the future architecture of public libraries. The authors have been working on the transition of library work and its consequences for the architecture and design of library buildings for quite some time. They…

This book describes a process framework for business information management: the Business Information Services Library (BiSL®) a public domain standard that is consistent with the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Application Services Library (ASL). BiSL establishes a bridge between IT and business processes, and between business information administrators and information managers. The BiSL process model provides an insight into all of the primary processes within their field of operations and into the relationship between the various processes. It offers a starting point for the improvement of these processes using best practices, amongst other things, and it provides uniform terminology. This book explains BiSL, a process framework for business information management, encompassing the best way to manage and execute business information management in day-to-day practice, and explains how the framework BiSL can help to improve business processes and the alignment of business and IT.

Asl2 - Remko van der Pols, Yvette Backer - eBook (9789087538033)
The Application Services Library ASL® is a public domain framework and the standard for application management. This pocket guide offers an introduction to the framework ASL 2, an evolutionary update of the ASL framework that was introduced in 2001 and is used by more and more organizations since then. This compact book offers a generic introduction and additional background information through case study texts. These case texts offer a historic perspective, with examples comparing the past situation for ASL and the present situation with ASL 2. ASL will offer support to anyone implementing application management. Additional support is given by best practices that are published on the website of the ASL BiSL Foundation. ASL aligns with other frameworks, e.g. BiSL® for business information management and ITIL® for IT service management. This publication is a mandatory study book for the ASL Foundation Examination of APMG-International.

They are members of the Ministerie van Verbeelding, 'Ministry of Imagination', a design collective that previously designed a number of notable libraries.
