An Introduction to Parallel Programming - T. Wittwer - eBook (9789071301780)
Many scientific computations require a considerable amount of computing time. This computing time can be reduced by distributing a problem over several processors. Multiprocessor computers used to be quite expensive, and not everybody had access to them. Since 2005, x86-compatible CPUs designed for desktop computers are available with two 'cores', which essentially makes them dualprocessor systems. More cores per CPU are to follow. This cheap extra computing power has to be used efficiently, which equires parallel programming. Parallel programming methods that work on dual-core PCs also work on larger shared memory systems, and a program designed for a cluster or other type of distributed memory system will also perform well on your dual-core (or multi-core) PC. The goal of this tutorial is to give an introduction into all aspects of parallel programming that are necessary to write ones own parallel programs. To achieve this, it explains the various existing architectures of parallel c…

Accounting & Finance - Ewoud Jansen - Paperback (9789059316287)
This book is about finance and accounting, subjects widely discussed in many other books. What sets this book apart from most others is that it discusses all the basic aspects of finance and accounting in one single textbook. Three areas of interest are discussed: Financial Management; Management Accounting; Financial Accounting. Typically, these three subjects are treated separately as individual topics. This book will be of interest to students preparing for a more in depth study of the topics later in their curriculum as well as for those who need a basic yet comprehensive introduction to the subject. The books intended audience is students following bachelor programs of business science. However, it may also be suitable for m…

Developments in technology have not only transformed aspects of our daily life, but they have also impacted the way in how illicit transactions are organised, such as illicit drug supply and demand. This book focuses on illicit drug transactions through drug marketplaces on the dark web, also called cryptomarkets. The dark web is an encrypted, small part of the internet not searchable by regular search engines. These drug cryptomarkets offer an unprecedented opportunity to study a drug market and to monitor new trends in drug supply and demand. International research has provided some general insights into the profile, experiences and motivations of drug cryptomarket vendors and buyers. This research has however indicated that national differences exist regarding the different variables that relate to cryptomarket use and prevalence. Therefore, in 2019, the Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO) commissioned and financed CRYPTODRUG shedding a first, yet necessary, light on …
